A Little About the Nurse Behind the Notes.
Hi, I'm Alyssa! I'm a registered nurse with a background spanning emergency and critical care, a Master of Science in Forensic Nursing, and a love for connecting the dots—both inside and outside the charts.
I work as a per diem Critical Care Float Nurse at Jersey Shore University Medical Center , where I've cared for patients across the Surgical ICU (SICU), Medical ICU (MICU), Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU), Neuro ICU, and Emergency Department. My experience also includes travel nursing, which gave me the opportunity to adapt to new clinical environments, work with diverse teams, and expand my perspective on patient care. I’m proud to be a member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC), the AALNC New Jersey Chapter, and the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA), reflecting my commitment to continued professional development and excellence in both emergency nursing and legal nurse consulting.
My educational journey started at the University of South Carolina, where I earned my degree in Biological Sciences (Go Gamecocks!). I went on to earn my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Stockton University and my Master of Science in Nursing from Stevenson University. Along the way, I developed a strong appreciation for the details behind clinical decision-making, medical documentation, and the bigger picture of patient care.
I created Coastal Nurse Consulting to bring that clinical experience into the medical-legal world, helping attorneys navigate complex medical records with a thoughtful, organized, and clinically informed approach.
Outside the Charts
When I'm not working through medical records or caring for patients, you'll probably find me chasing sunshine and saltwater. I'm a proud dog mom to my sato (Puerto Rican street dog) Kiwi, and I spend as much of the winter as I can living in Rincon, Puerto Rico. Between surfing, scuba diving, staying active, and getting outside whenever possible, I'm happiest when I'm near the ocean or planning my next adventure.
I'm excited to bring a fresh perspective, a nurse's eye for detail, and a little coastal personality to the world of legal nurse consulting.
